Molnlycke – Melgisorb Ag

Melgisorb Ag is a calcium alginate dressing capable of absorbing large amounts of exudate, 18 times its own weight. When absorbing, the alginate fibers form a soft moist gel, giving a moist environment conductive to wound healing. The gel also blocks lateral wicking of exudate thereby reducing maceration. The soft moist gel does not adhere to the wound site, thereby reducing trauma and pain during wear and dressing change. The gel can easily be removed by irrigating with normal saline.  The silver in Melgisorb Ag is active for up to 7 days, providing a natural and effective means of fighting infection.

Skin tears and abrasions, Surgical incisions, Second degree burns, Blistering, Lacerations, Parital and full thickness grafts, Diabetic ulcers, Venous and arterial ulcers, Pressure ulcers, Epidermolysis Bullosa.
